Operation and Maintenance Management of Gas Transmission Facilities
With partners, Enbridge and OHI (Oman), Canadian Energy Services (CES), was established and based in Muscat Oman was formed to provide a due diligence review and take over of approximately 1900 km of steel pipelines delivering gas to many large industrial customers and power plants and to operate and manage the system over a five year period until transfer of the operations the new entity Oman Gas Company (OGC). The training (on job, classroom etc.) of the Omani personnel formed a significant part of the project so they were capable of assuming a full responsibility of the facilities at the end of the contract period.
Two significant project activities occurred in addition to the O&M; work are upgrades were made on existing pipeline system associated with installation of a state-of-the-art SCADA system. This included a significant number of pipeline additions, crossover lines and valves and two new pipelines (320km of 32” & 700km of 24”) were tied in and commissioned.
